Logo for TV (Editing)

In the finishing stages of creating the music video, I had to apply an MTV logo that would appear in the whole clip, as if it would appear on a music channel. I chose MTV due to the dance theme that fitted with the genre that was involved with the channel.
It worked really well with my video and I was gald I chose a black and white logo as it was aesthetically pleasing and fitted so well in the top left corner of the video. Also i had to use a HD form so the picture would not be pixilated when on a large screen, I adjusted the size of the logo to fit and made sure the size worked and wasnt to large.

Letter Boxing (Editing)

Most music videos include letterboxing which composes a widescreen professional look and it is a suggested convention of a music video. I made every frame and cut was the same size '2:35:1' in the whole clip. I believe this made it look more appealing and strengthened the professionalism to the audience.

Testing effects (Lesson)

Due to having some skill with final cut pro due to the AS film opening produced last year it help incredibly when producing this years music video. Of course my skills had to develop more as the complexity of creating a music video compared to a filming opening was a big step up. I had to research how to do slow motion and also the reverse technique which was a large element to my piece and what gave it I believe it's best strength as it was the biggest visual seen in the video. As my piece had little colour differentiation as luckily i had strong control over my lighting in the in the drama studio, I did not specifically have much change to the production through colour such as 'grey scale' or and adjustment to the saturation.

Allocating footage (Lesson)

As soon as the footage was completely converted I looked into naming my shots and placing them in related folders. Due to some weaker shots and also shots which may have had the actors laughing or glitter was not thrown well were placed in a 'weak' folder and not deleted so that if in need I could always revert back to them if there was any single strong shot. Then I placed them in to 'glitter' 'feathers' and 'couple' shot groups due the specific need for them at different points of the video. This help immensely as it became quick and easy to file through all the footage without having to constantly watch the clip over and over.

Organising Footage (Lesson)

As I began to layer the footage together on Final Cut Pro it began to create a sense of flow and i began to see my music video really start to come together. I also began lip syncing my lyrics to the actors singing which created a challenge but was looking good. Having a look at all the glitter shots and the effect they made was great and it began to look like a success. Final Cut Pro was a great outlet to use.

Uploading Footage (Lesson)

Today I uploaded my footage that needed to be converted onto the right format. By this I was able to filter through all the shots and miss-shots that had occurred and look at the raw footage and decided on the appropriate ones to use and the ones that did not work well or were out of focus.

Editing and Effects (Research and Planning)

To achieve the best effects and using the strongest editing techniques, I looked deeper into final cut pro and wanted to see what effects i couple place on certain parts of my video to create a bit of an illusion. I did this by on the thrown flowers I placed an 'eho effect'. This repeated the shot in an almost stop motion type of way. I really really liked this effect as it just added an extra piece that made it look more professional and showed the skills that I have learnt from using the software.

Target Audience (Research and Planning)

Disclosure are a very popular band that are very globally known, they are a dance/electronica genre and are extremely widespread and have done many tours and performed and music festivals across the country. Due to this, I believed that their target audience is teenagers and young adults who enjoy electronic dance music. They have a range of songs that appeal more to the grunge side of dance and also the pop side which helps keep a wide audience especially across teenagers. I targeted my audiences as teenagers by using a teange couple that would be relatable to them watching.

Shooting Schedule (Research and Planning)

Regarding the shooting schedule with dates and times, being a single bodied production team it help planning to be a lot easier for myself. Yet I had many issues getting the actors to come together to shoot and find a date and enough time after school to film as the studio would be unavailable on weekends. Thus after a long time of planning we finalised the 4th of september as it was one of the first days back in school for the new year. I was able to get all the equipment and props together and met the actors at the studio. I would have liked to do a re-shoot to add more emotion to my actors and strengthen some of my shots but this became very difficult to complete it so I then decided to adapt my editing and do trial and error with my avalible shots.

Test Shots (Research and Planning)

I did a few test shots at location to know if the available space would work for me and fit well with the positioning and the actors. Two of my friends from drama helped me with this and I took some shots that would be similar to the ones  draw on my storyboard such as extreme close ups of the eyes, two shots and  just facial close ups. These really helped me get and understanding of the shots and how they would be incorporated into my piece.
